CHRISTOPHER J. PETRINI is founding principal of Petrini & Associates, P.C. his practice focuses on municipal law litigation and public construction. Chris served as Town Counsel to the Town of Framingham from 2010-2017, has served as Framingham City Solicitor since 2018, currently serves as Town Counsel for the Town of Sherborn, and serves as Special Counsel to numerous cities, towns, school districts and public authorities throughout the Commonwealth in disputes involving public construction, labor and other municipal law issues.

Chris is Past President of the Massachusetts Municipal Lawyers Association (“MMLA”) and serves on its Executive Committee. Chris was awarded the Robert W. Ritchie Special Achievement Award in 2008 and the 2017 President’s Award for excellence in municipal law and service to the furtherance of local government. Chris is Regional Vice President of the International Municipal Lawyers Association (“IMLA”) and was a 2016 recipient of the IMLA Amicus Service Award for his pro-bono amicus brief work on behalf of IMLA and other local government interests. Chris served as Co-Chair of the Construction Law Committee of the Civil Litigation Section of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s (“MBA”) and has chaired or served as a panelist on numerous continuing legal education seminars on public construction and other municipal law topics. Chris has published over a dozen articles or Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (“MCLE”) Chapters on municipal law and public construction topics. Chris founded and for the past 10+ years has chaired the MMLA Annual Public Construction and Infrastructure Update Conference. Chris’ cases or comments on cases have been featured in more than 30 front page articles of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.

Chris earned his A.B. in Philosophy and Government (cum laude) from Georgetown University and is a high honors graduate of Duke University School of Law. While in Law School, Chris served as a Staff Editor of Duke Law School’s Law and Contemporary Problems. He also earned his M.A. in Philosophy from the Duke University Graduate School. After law school, Chris served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Theodore M. McMillian of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in St. Louis, where he researched and wrote draft decisions on questions of federal law, several of which received national attention.

Chris has been recognized as a New England Super Lawyer by New England Super Lawyer Magazine nine times (2009, 2010 and 2014-2021), and a Top 100 Lawyer in New England three times (2016-2018).

Chris is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the State of Illinois, the United States District Courts for the District of Massachusetts and the Northern District of Illinois, the United States Courts of Appeals for the First and Eighth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.
